Santiago Herrera (portrayed by Benjamin Ciaramello is a major recurring character in the second season of the Friday Night Lights television series. Santiago played as a linebacker on the Dillon Panthers football team for a brief amount of time. Santiago is not seen after season two and his abrupt absence is never addressed or acknowledged. It is believed that his story line was abandoned due to the 2007 writer's strike.

Lyla Garrity first met him in juvenile detention where she led a Christian discussion group. Once he was released she helped him find a job at Buddy's car dealership, where he quickly proved to be hardworking and athletic.
Buddy Garrity[]
Santiago was a Dillon Panther taken in by Buddy Garrity and encouraged to play football. To ensure he met all academic requirements, Buddy invited Santiago to live in his house and the two bonded.
Eric Taylor[]
Santiago would be developed by Coach Eric Taylor and his staff on both sides of the ball, with him rapidly showing improved skills on the defensive side of the ball. He would play a key role in the Dillon Panther's success as the season went on.
